The COVID-19 pandemic has had enormous mental health impacts on populations worldwide, with some groups being more vulnerable to poor mental health outcomes than others. Several recent studies have found youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and 2-spirit (LGBTQ2S+) to disproportionately experience mental health-related harms as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including heightened anxiety, depression, substance misuse, and suicidality.
